Dr Luke Byrne BDSc Hons (Dental Surgeon)

Committed to providing the local community with high-quality patient care, Luke is a true gentleman, conducting all his work in a caring manner. Luke takes ongoing dental hygiene and prevention very seriously, does all he can to ensure his all patients maintain the best dental health, avoiding potential surgery and cosmetic treatments.
Luke Byrne’s Personal Life & Hobbies
Born in Kiama and raised at his parent’s farm in Berry, Luke moved to Queensland to study dentistry at university. He successfully graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor and Dental Science Honors. With over a decade of experience in dental practice, Luke has become Shellharbour’s most trusted dentist. When he isn’t attending to all our emergency dental needs, he likes to spend time in the Australian bush for a spot of camping, fishing, hiking and four-wheel driving in the great outdoors.
Kim-Anh Byrne BOH (Senior Hygienist / Therapist)
Kim also studied and trained at the University of Queensland, where she achieved a Bachelor in Oral Hygiene but now is in charge of overseeing Shellharbour City Dental patient’s oral health. As an experienced and highly skilled Hygienist and Dental Therapist, Kim thoroughly cleans all patients’ gums and teeth whilst advising on preventing dental disease.
Thanks to her easy-going nature, she is a favourite with our teenage and child patients. She will educate all her patients on the correct brushing techniques and flossing of teeth whilst managing the six-monthly preventive dental Shellharbour care program consisting of examination, thorough scale and polish, and fluoride treatments.
Kim-Anh Byrne Personal Life & Hobbies
When she takes a break, Kim enjoys various forms of dancing, with a particular fondness for ballet. Kim is also very musical. She sings 'like an angel' and greatly enjoys any opportunity to play her piano or her flute. Like Luke, Kim very much enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing, and consistently 'out fishes her husband.
Dr Erwin Halim
Dr Erwin graduated from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor Degree in Dental Science. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is a strong proponent of preventive and minimal intervention dentistry. As a member of the Australian Dental Association and an affiliate member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and is an Invisalign® accredited general Dentist.
Dr Erwin believes in continuing professional education to keep to the latest digital dentistry techniques and CAD/CAM technology. Dr Erwin regularly attends virtual webinars, local and international conferences to continue learning and ensuring that his practice and knowledge are up to date and that he continues to provide the best standard of care for his patients.
Dr Erwin Halim Personal Life & Hobbies
His friendly and humble character makes him very approachable, especially to anxious patients. Dr Erwin is passionate about providing the highest quality of dental care for every patient of his.
Outside of work, Dr Erwin enjoys outdoor sports, especially cycling, bushwalking and scuba diving.
Dr Jeff Bridges
Following four years of university life in Dunedin, New Zealand, Jeff graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. After returning to Australia and working for several years, the ongoing desire to do Dentistry presented itself in the beautiful Gold Coast. He spent five years gaining his Dental degree. Jeff has since returned to the Illawarra region, where his father ran the family dental practice in Warrawong, where he was the principal dentist for decades.
Jeff enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with particular interests in crown and bridgework and restorative dentistry. He wants a challenge and provides advice and treatment for patients with TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), an area he specialises in as a Physiotherapist. Having completed training in Invisalign as well, he is looking to expand his practice into the world of orthodontics to help patients achieve a more aesthetic smile! Jeff's focus with patients is to provide a high level of dental care with an experience that is relaxed, comfortable and pain-free.
Dr Jeff Bridges Personal Life & Hobbies
Outside of dentistry, Jeff enjoys keeping active and cooking excellent meals for friends and family. He appreciates living and working in the Illawarra region and all it offers in terms of the beautiful beaches, the hinterland and the wonderful lifestyle. Thank you to Dr Luke and Kim for the opportunity to work at Shellharbour City Dental, and I look to serve the local community for many years to come.
Dr Vivian Huynh
Dr Vivian Huynh is a passionate dentist who has serviced the Illawarra, where she calls home, for the last five years. She graduated from the University of Adelaide and has volunteered her dental skills in the Philippines. Vivian believes that prevention is always better than cure and leans towards minimal intervention dentistry where possible. She is especially popular with children and anxious dental patients because of her warm and friendly personality. Vivian wants all her patients to know that there’s no such thing as a silly question! Dr Vivian is interested in fixed and removable prosthodontics, including crowns, bridges, veneers and dentures.

Vivian is a keen runner in her free time and generally enjoys keeping active with her family. She likes to volunteer her time for the Illawarra dog rescue organisation because of her love for canines (pun intended!).
